TRE for Relaxation, Stress Release and better Resilience
Working with Chronic Stress
The human body is genetically designed to experience, endure, survive and evolve through the experience of traumatic events. This is what ensures the survival and evolution of humans as a species on this planet. TRE® is an innovative set of exercises that help the body release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism in the body that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. TRE® aims to rid the body of held tension and to bring the body back to a natural balance and relaxation.
TRE® can easily be learned and is able to facilitate and promote the body’s and the psyche’s return to balance in a very easy and quick manner. The technique is based on the fundamental idea that stress, tension, and trauma are both psychological and physical, and is fully backed by scientific research. After doing TRE®, many people report feelings of relaxation and well-being.
Since this internal physiological release mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE®. It increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses, or traumas from accidents. TRE® cultivates self-regulation, self-healing processes, and self-empowerment. It is designed as a self-help tool that can be used throughout one's life as a maintenance tool as well as a remedy for acute situations.
The reason why TRE® is fast becoming such an indispensable tool is that a dysfunction of the nervous system due to held tension caused by traumatic events creates an imbalance between the parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous system. This dysfunction is both physiological as well as psychological. It causes the neurological, biochemical and anatomical make- up, structure, and reactions within the body to change, alter and define much of the personality; in fact, our personality is very much affected by trauma. TRE® will be a great aid in the restoration of who we really are, so we can be more alive, free, and natural, able to live our highest potential.

Individual Sessions TRE
A dysregulated nervous system is the cause of many physical and mental ailments. Good health is based on a well regulated vagus nerve. And TRE works to improve the vagal 'tone'. In addition, TRE increases your resilience and it helps you reduce worry and anxiety, relieve chronic tension in your back and neck, and sharpen your mind. TRE has the power, over the long term, to increase both your mental and physical performance, as well as improve your mental resilience and physical well-being.
The first session lasts 90 minutes, then 60 minutes. 80€ per hour. First session is billed as 1 hour. Also available online.
Caveat regarding TRE in developmental trauma.
TRE is commonly touted as a self-help method. This is limited in the case of developmental trauma. TRE was originally developed to address shock trauma. It is important for the use of TRE that the client is able to remain present and self-regulate no matter what comes up. It is important that the client only goes as far as they can stay present with what they are experiencing and give themselves enough time to integrate the process. It is better to handle a difficult-to-digest issue in small steps. In other words, this means that TRE can and should be practiced in such cases with shorter duration and longer intervals. And often this needs expert guidance from a TRE provider.
When using this method to resolve developmental trauma, it is important to keep in mind that the main component that contributes to sustainable healing in developmental trauma is the relationship between therapist (or facilitator, which can be a friend) and client. This relationship must be ongoing, reliable, and have very specific qualities. For example, the companion must be able to fully tune in (empathize) with the client, but at the same time maintain his or her boundaries. Thus, there must be no merging or even encroachment. The facilitator must be present without judgment, but with a lot of compassion and acceptance. He must be able to convey to the client that he can trust and rely on the companion.
Also, it is important to understand that recovery from developmental trauma, by whatever method, is a process and will take some time. In the case of developmental trauma, careful consideration should be given to whether TRE is a viable self-help tool. If the above elements are present, TRE can indeed be used for developmental trauma. It has helped me a lot. And I practiced on my own for a long time.
